Aside from Jim’s passion for mental health advocacy, which came primarily as a result of his bouts with depression and anxiety, he also has many diverse interests and experiences.

Jim has been a public school Spanish teacher for 16 years, and has also coached soccer for over 20 years.  Most of his experiences coaching soccer have come at the High School level, where he has coached girls’ high school soccer for two decades.

Furthermore, Jim was youth leader at his church for close to ten years, where he enjoyed the opportunity to serve others on mission/service trips to El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, as well as Camden, New Jersey and the Appalachian region in West Virginia.

Jim loves to travel with his wife, Shannah, and their three chihuahua (mixes), Snitches, Sadie and Stewart.  When the opportunity arises, he also enjoys traveling with his mom and dad.

Jim is a huge sports fan.  He roots for all Philadelphia based professional teams – in particular the Eagles, Union, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers.  He also is a global soccer fan, supporting teams such as Aston Villa in the English Premier League, Roma in the Italian Serie A, Lyon in the French Ligue 1, Barcelona in La Liga, and Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga.  He also has a soft place in his heart for New York Red Bull.
